1972: In Hungary, Donald
Butler (John Marzili), a CIA operative successfully tracks a
werewolf and corners it in a small chapel. Sacrificing his assistant
to better position himself for the kill, Butler dispatches the
creature. Its precious blood is then transported back to the U.S.
where it undergoes CIA testing. Unhappy with Government red tape and
procrastination, butler takes matters into his own hands. He injects
himself with the blood and is rewarded with an immediate
metamorphosis which places his erstwhile colleagues in deadly
jeopardy.
Butler's partner, Pete Miller
(Barry
Bostwick), is forced to kill his friends
and whitewash the experiment. The bodies of Butler and his two
victims are frozen in cryonic chambers and sealed away from the
world.
20 YEARS LATER, a group of scientists headed by
Anna De Carlo (Kim
Delaney) have developed a living metallic
skin called BioFerron. The skin will revolutionize medicine in the
treatment of burns, skin cancer and radiation. As progress on
BioFerron mounts, the good news reaches Washington - and the ears of
Pete Miller. Seeing an opportunity to reactivate his experiments of
20 years ago, he shows up at the BioFerron Institute and advances the
program to cadaver testing. The first cavader is, of course, his
erstwhile friend and colleague, Donald Butler.
While scientists are grafting the BioFerron onto
Butler's body, they discover three bullets in the corpse and remove
them. The corpse returns to life, horrifying the doctors who delude
themselves into believing that they have discovered the key to
resurrection.
As tests continue on Butler, the material hardens
and spreads uncontrollably. By the light of full moon, Donald Butler
metamorphoses into MetalBeast, its skin made of the impenetrable
BioFerron. MetalBeast escapes his creators and creates chaos and
destruction.
Now, the scientists learn of the 20-year-old
werewolf experiment and realize that they were purposely provided
with the cadaver so that it could be reactivated. MetalBeast goes on
to kill the men who gave him life. Desperate experiments begin to
devise a means to penetrate the monster's metallic skin -- the only
way they can destroy him.
